FAQs

What is ImpactAimers?

ImpactAimers is a changemaker-led collaboration to empower young people to kick-start their career as social entrepreneurs through an intensive residential experience. Born out of the ChangemakerXchange in Istanbul in 2015, a gathering for young social entrepreneurs from Europe and the MENA region, ImpactAimers organises subsidised three- to four-day youth summits for young people aged between 18 and 30.

Who is behind ImpactAimers?

ImpactAimers is unique in its kind as it is entirely managed by fellow young social entrepreneurs from all over Europe and North Africa. The direct involvement of successful young social entrepreneurs ensures that each participant receives personalised support to take the first steps in their journey, as well as authentic and hands-on insights into the life of social entrepreneurs. ImpactAimers is a project by changemakers for changemakers.

What happens during the ImpactAimers youth camps?

The youth summits guide young people through an exploration of their talents and gifts to discover their own unique purpose using tools such as storytelling, sharing circles and peer coaching. They also enable them to foster meaningful relationships through open space sessions and small group activities, with the purpose of sparking new collaborations to create social and environmental ventures that will benefit all sectors of society.

Who can apply to join the ImpactAimers summits?

We are looking for young people aged between 18 and 30 who are passionate about becoming changemakers and who want to make a positive impact on people and planet. Whilst prior experience in the field of social entrepreneurship and changemaking is not required, we discourage applications from experienced social entrepreneurs as our summits focus on supporting young people in the early stages of their journeys. Please also note we currently only accept applications from young people living in the country where the summits are hosted as it is our priority to strengthen the local social entrepreneurship ecosystem.

What is the official language of ImpactAimers?

The official language of ImpactAimers is English as it is the common language amongst all facilitators. Please note that we are unable to accept applications in other languages as we need to assess your level of English to ensure you can benefit fully from joining one of our summits.

I do not live in a country where the ImpactAimers summits are hosted. Can I apply?

No. We can only accept applications from young people living in the country where the ImpactAimers summits are hosted. This is to ensure that we contribute to strengthening the local social entrepreneurship ecosystem. We are considering the possibility of having a small international quota for future summits, so keep checking our website for regular updates.

I am younger than 18 years old. Can I apply?

Unfortunately, no. We do not currently have the capacity to go through the DBS check required to work with young people under the age of 18.

I am older than 30 years old. Can I apply?

Maybe. Whilst our programme is designed to benefit young people aged between 18 and 30, we do recognise that putting an age-bracket can sometime exclude people who should be there. If this is you, please get in touch with us before applying so that we assess whether you would be able to benefit from joining our summits. Please note that priority is given to applicants who are aged between 18 and 30.

Are the ImpactAimers youth summits free?

It is our commitment to ensure the ImpactAimers youth camps are accessible for all young people. We cover the costs for your accommodation, food, transportation during the youth summit, as well as facilitators’ fees and other summit expenses. You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the summit venue. We will also ask you to pay a small deposit to confirm your place into the summit.

Why do I have to pay a confirmation deposit?

We ask you to pay a small deposit to confirm your place into the summit and show your commitment to becoming part of this community of changemakers. Should you have difficulties paying the small deposit, please note that a limited number of stipends are available. The stipends work on a refundable basis: we will still ask you to pay the deposit, but we will refund it to you at the end of the summit, providing that you have attended it from start to finish.

I want to bring ImpactAimers to my country. How can I partner with ImpactAimers?

We are always looking for enthusiastic individuals and organisations that wish to help us expand the reach of ImpactAimers by organising youth camps in new countries. Whether you are able to sponsor a youth summit, or offer us space in a suitable venue… we want to hear from you! Check out our Partners’ page to find more information and get in touch with us.
